Are you kidding me?

Jack went down for his nap at 1:00 and he just now fell asleep like 20 minutes ago (around 3:40). The funny thing is, if he wakes up even 10 minutes past 4 p.m. he is the grumpiest gus ever! So now I have to go in there and wake up my 2 year old who is finally sound asleep after almost 3 hours of singing and playing in his crib. What the what?! Of course this would happen. Of course it would. Now before you go thinking that I am a horrible mom for letting my kid kick it in his crib forever, just know that I am not willing to give up nap time yet. If we have to start calling it quiet time so it doesn't seem cruel then so be it but honestly this time during the afternoon is priceless. Anyway, I better go wake up my kids. One needs to eat before I burst and the other needs to wake up before he transforms into a real nightmare of a child. Yeesh.

Quiet time...definitely. We all need a good solid hour (at least) of time apart from one another every day.

I find nothing wrong with what you do.

It's a "nap" anytime they're away from you and "resting". Just think about you, it feels good even for a hour just to kick it and lay down or read. It rejuvinated anyone at ANY age. But you know me, the nap nazi (for selfish reasons of course). Bronson STILL takes naps at 1:00 on Saturdays and Sundays when he's not at school (along with everyone else). "Quiet time", "nap" or "Sanity saver" call it whatever....it's worth it and you're a better mom for it.

First of all, What an angle your daughter is! I love those big eyes, I can just imagine the love you must have for that beautiful little creature. I even love her and ive never met her:)
Another thing, lately ive been putting Kyler down for a nap and ill go off (confident hes going right to sleep)and start a work out dvd or shower or something. An hour later, ill hear noises and peak in on him and find him playing or reading books or something. Realizing he never took a nap! I really think its good for them though. They need their own "alone" time too. I heard its good for their learning skills?

Dude. I have to have "quiet" time every day. Even if she isn't sleeping, I need a long break from her for at least an hour and a half. I don't think I will ever accept not having her take a "nap" at least until she is in school.

My doctor told me most kids try to give up nap (or it seems like it) temporarily around 2. Guess what? Jimmy started taking longer to fall asleep or not nap, but I did what my doctor said: ignore him as if he is napping for as long as it takes (even if it is a full year until he turns 3). So I ignored him for al least 2 hours every day for almost a month and then as promised he went back to normal. so do not give it up. mine naps again almost 3 hours everyday... from 1 to 4. I am glad I did not give it up like many parents do. I like my doctor :)
