I will survive!

We are doing better. I think. I guess it varies but I want to say that we are doing better so I am going to go ahead and say it dangit! :)

Jack has started to adjust and is very helpful in handing me various baby accessories, even when I don't need them. Things like, nursing pads, diapers and pacifiers. It's nice that he is finally acknowledging her existence. One other thing about the Punkin Butters (Jack's current nick name if you didn't know) he is freaking huge! Seriously, how could I have thought he was so cute and little and cuddly a week ago? That kid is beefy!

Michael is adjusting as well. He is still solidly wrapped around both Violet and Jack's fingers except in the middle of the night. He does get a bit grumpy when she is screaming but who wouldn't with a schedule like his?

I am doing great actually. I have quite a few pounds to go (which is already my current obsession besides my kids of course) and I can't wait to get back to the gym. I have been feeling extremely guilty and inadequate when it comes to Jack but I am hoping that we will both adjust to our lack of one on one time. I know I have talked to some of you about this already but I am in mourning over the loss of our little three some. We were like the three musketeers and now that is over. It's so sad in the strangest way even though I can't imagine life without Violet. So besides my baby blues I am great. Tired. But great.

Violet is a champ. She is nursing only every 4 or so hours which is convenient for me and sleeping most of the day and part of the night. The hardest thing is having to rock her to sleep in the middle of the night. Did I seriously do that with Jack for 9 weeks until I "baby wised" him? Ugh. She gets more and more beautiful every day but what did you expect me to say? :)

My Mom is a life saver. She is cooking and cleaning and helping to rock the baby. Today she took Jack to Barnes and Noble to play at the train table for an hour and a half so I could shop. It was awesome. She has washed, dried and folded every piece of dirty laundry that has hit the basket. And for any of you who know me, you know that laundry is my evil nemesis. I am totally avoiding thinking about her leaving on Thursday. I refuse. Uh uh. Nope. Not gonna.

Now for a shout out. I need to write a personal thank you to this most awesome of awesome people but I am going to blog about it first. For any of you out there looking for a solution to how to carry your new born and deal with a toddler, look no further than the GEELA WRAP! This is the most brilliant thing in the whole world and not to mention made of super cute fabric. I feel so cool with my little papoose baby! So to Jill Brady, a humongous, gigantic, enormous THANK YOU!!!! I am in love with the gift and the giver (strictly platonic of course :) ). Now go get yourself one and you can have the same joy I have!

You are seriously the best one to follow with a new baby because you really tell it like it is. Guilt about Jack, a grumpy husband, etc. is all part of the deal. But what a beautiful girl and I'm so glad you're happy! Keep the thoughts coming, I'm waiting for more!

so glad to hear you're doing better. i had a really hard time when my mom would leave for the night, the second she said she was leaving i would start throwing up. i had bad baby blues. too much anxiety i guess.
Kat, she is so beautiful!!! She really is, i don't tell everyone that, but Violet is perfect!

OH my heck! (That was so Utah slang) well, your baby girl is absolutely positively gorgeous! Wow, and I am guessing that is a blanket you made her that she is wrapped in? Also so cute. Man, you guys make some dang beautiful kiddos...I hope your adjusting continues to go well.

Yay for cute baby girls! The pictures are fabulous and I'm stoked you liked the wrap. I just checked Etsy and there's only one left! (I do know the Geela ladies just cut peices for 50 more - in super-rad fabrics...)

Anyway, congrats on successfully sqeezing out such a beautiful baby and for adjusting to life with two kiddos. You'll be great!

That is a really cute wrap... girl stuff is definitely more fun than boy stuff, but I already did that so I am enjoying the simpleness that is boy.

Do you have a baby swing? I got the papoose one that swings side to side... and let me just tell you, I have gotten spoiled by never having to rock him to sleep. Ever.

Is that the beanie you were knitting? It is so freaking cute!

Oh and by the way that last comment from "Kate" was actually from me... I had just signed up for a fake email so I could get the 10 dollars off old navy coupon (try it it works every time), and I was still automatically signed in as that when I left that comment.

Now you know my dirty little secret.

Oh man Jana cracks me up. I love how she used the name "Kate" for a fake email. I have made many a fake email in my day but mostly to mess with people like when I used to work at UoP and we would pretend we were students wanting to go to school and that we got the person's email from one of their students (you can look up the names of students people enroll so we sounded legit). And we would write weird emails (by we I mean me and a buddy or two would help) and then the person we did it to would go on and on about their student and the whole time we would be holding back laughter. It was actually really funny but maybe it doesn't sound like it because I can't go into details, it might sound offensive.

Anyway, I totally want to buy one of those wraps now. I have tried a couple different slings but have a hard time with the sizing (oddly enough there isn't a size called relatively skinny with large boobs).

Is that one of the blankets you make that she's wrapped in? Its so cute! And I love the way the pictures you guys take look. What kind of camera do you have? Is it a special setting? Help a sista out.

I'll end this, the longest comment known to man, by saying that I bought babywise and will start reading it tonight.

Also, (hah you thought I was going to stop) I only lost 8 pounds when I had Nola. I was so bummed when I got on the scale after arriving home from the hospital. But the rest of it came off within a few weeks, so just be patient, you're only like a week out.

Okay can't wait to hang with you!

Katherine....What a beautiful baby girl! I am glad you have your mom there to help! She is the best! When I read about your sadness over the loss of the "3 musketeers" I really felt like I knew that feeling. When Jon and I first got married I had a little heartbreak for what Cole, Camryn, and i had built for ourselves. Not that i didnt want to be married again..but I felt like we had overcome a lot and kind of like we were the musketeers as well. But I bet you already cant imagine your life without Violet. And Jack will be eaten up with her soon as well. Hope you get some rest and have her sleeping thru the night soon. When you are waking up refreshed you can think of me..who still gets up once a night to put Sam in my bed! Wow...I just cant figure that whole sleeping thing out!? :)

I love her so much. She is so gorgeous. she has the most beautiful perfect little features. She's going to be a knock out. Hang in there, you will have good days and bad. Some days Jack will get more attention, other times Violet will. And when the very hard moments hit, just take a deep breath and tell yourself, "Just get through this hour." or through this day...or whatever. That helped me so much. I'm glad everyone is doing reasonably well. Tell your Mom the Laundry Queen hi for me. (p.s. funny about the BW covnersation going on here)

Where to begin...I am at work reading this on my break and I almost started crying. I don't know what it was, but you look so beautiful and happy with your family. Congradulations! I'm so happy for you.....she is soooooo cute! You guys did a great job. I want to meet your kids!

Good luck girly girl

It is so hard. But I promise it gets better....easier. Some days will be really hard, some marginally hard, and some not bad at all. Forget about your house, forget about all the non-essentials and just focus on that gorgeous baby (ok and her big brother). She'll grow so fast....too fast. Kennedy watched a lot of tv the first month or so. Don't let yourself feel overly guilty. Whatever helps you keep YOUR sanity will ultimately be the best thing for your little kids.

She is such a doll, she totally looks like you! That picture with the hat totally cracks me up! i know how you feel about adding a new member to your family, granted this is only our first, but it still is so weird that we will have someone else joining us all the time, I mean we have our dogs, but a baby is totally different, even though our dogs feel like kids sometimes. :) good luck with everything!

Holy 22 comment post...this one really worked for you! I must say that I already read it, but came back today to complain about how it has been a whole week and I don't see any updated baby pictures. I mean come on, you can't be busy or anything!? But seriously, those of us who don't have little girls to dress up in cutsie outfits have to live vicariously through those of you that do...so I'm ready for some more pictures! lol! btw, hope you are doing well, I have a feeling you are...

I LOVE the pictures of Michael with Violet and her completely oblivious to how much he's enjoying it. The picture with her peering out of the blanket is priceless!!! Glad to hear things are doing better!
