Really?! Really?!

I have been waiting to write this post since 5:00 am this morning. Let me explain. Out internet was out for a couple days so the butt crack repair man showed up about 10 minutes ago. Finally! Now I can ask for your opinion on the matter that has plagued me all day.

So just out of curiosity, do any of you find it acceptable that my husband sets 3 alarms which go off from 5-5:30 every morning sometimes semi-simultaneously and sometimes within 1 minute of each other. Not only do the alarms go off and off and off and off because he snoozes, but I have to wake him up to tell him to turn them off because he sleeps through them. Is this fair? Am I crazy to dream of the days when we can have separate bedrooms? Or am I being unfair because he gets up so early everyday and I get to sleep in everyday? Should I be more lenient or should I make him start sleeping on the couch?

To add to this annoyance is the fact that my body has now adjusted to the early morning awakening. What I mean is, everyday, even the weekends, I spontaneously wake up at 5 and have a very hard time falling asleep till around 6. I am programmed! Does anyone have a solution? This morning I considered throwing the alarm across the room and listening with glee as it splintered into a million tiny plastic pieces. There has to be an alternative! And no, smothering my husband with my pillow is not the solution I am looking for. I really do love him. I just hate him from about 5 am to 6 am.

So everyone...fix it. I have tried yelling, kicking, begging, pleading, bribing and everything I can think of to change the situation. If you knew me at all in high school you know that I am stubborn. Imagine that same level of stubbornness and multiply it by 50 and that equals my husband. He is set on setting 3 alarms and pissing me off every morning. There has got to be a better solution than separate bedrooms!

You should probably suck it up if he's the one going to work every day and you aren't...

When I was working and had to get up early I always hit the snooze and Birch hated it! I would limit Michael to ONE alarm clock. Then maybe you can learn to sleep through that one sound. That's what Birch had to do. But being pregnant doesn't help! Sorry!

I think because he is the one getting up early every day to go to work you need to let him get up the way he needs to get up. He is sacrificing a lot for you by providing for your family, and if he needs three alarm clocks then he probably is REALLY needs them. I know its frustrating because Kory also hits the snooze button a few times, but I also get to sleep in a lot later than he does. If you hate loosing that hour, I suggest getting up with him and starting your day then when he does. OR get yourself some intense ear plugs. Try to be as supportive as possible, because you are in this together. Treat him the way you would want to be treated if you were the one who had to get up early and work hard all day. I am not trying to lecture you, I am just sharing with you the things I tell myself when I get frustrated.

I don't know man, because Lee used to hit snooze and I would get PISSED! Plus now you are a mom, and pregnant. I think, You should allow this on the occasion that he goes to bed late or something, but if it was every day I would go freaking nuts. I am on your side. Tell him to go to bed 9 minutes earlier, and 3 alarms are insane.

I have the same issue with Dave! He will intentionally set his alarm clock 30-60 minutes earlier than he actually needs to get up just so he can snooze at least 4 times. Then every time it goes off it wakes me up too (well, at least the first time, once I'm awake I can't get back to sleep). The only solution I have found is to get up when he does, eat some breakfast, then after he leaves, go back to bed. For some reason it's easier for me to get back to sleep if I've been awake for a while.

Sorry for the epistle.

Welcome to Michael!! IF I remember correctly he would set his alarm clock to have 15 yes 15 snoozes before getting up for seminary EVERY morning-my room was right next door! Good luck getting a Clark out of bed, I still can't do it!!! : ) Love you Kat! Thanks for putting up with us! Maureen

Oh man that stinks!! You probably need to wake up around that time to pee anyway though, so that's nice.... All I can say is that I might be tempted to resort to violence if I were you. I don't consider myself a violent person, I just love sleep! So bless your sweet heart!

I think I would go insane. One alarm is bad enough. Brett gets up at 5 as well and I seriously have to cover my own head with a pillow because he gets ready for work it's like I'm right there with him. Our room and bathroom are all one big connected area, so when the lights are on the whole room is illuminated and when the electric toothbrush is running it sounds like it's in my ear. I have no solution for you...only that I too suffer with the same issue. poor us!
