Random video

A little over a week ago we took an evening to have some free fun at Barnes and Noble. After Jack played with the trains for an hour or so he decided it was time to go on the "roller coaster" for a while. Michael must have taken him up and down on that thing 30 times! Aren't the simple things the best?

We spent this weekend in Carlsbad with Michael's brother and his family and had a blast. While I was there my sister in law Jenn and I were able to go garage sale-ing. HOLY COW! I love it! I had to exercise some serious restraint and only buy what we originally went for.....a crib and dresser/changing table. Both white. Both from Toys R US and both in great condition for only 100 bucks. Oh man! I can't wait for this tiny thing to sleep in her new crib on her new super cute bedding. Did I mention that the bedding I was stalking arrived at my door courtesy of my mom? Well, it did and she is the best.

These are pictures of the baby furniture I scored for a 100 bucks. The crib is not exactly like this one but it is very, very close. Cute right? Great deal right? I know. Ah.

Side note: so Michael has tried taking pictures of me several times but I just can't do it guys. If he takes posed ones they look so cheesy and I can't even smile naturally and if he takes candid shots they are so unflattering. I am just too self conscious I guess. Sorry to disappoint but you can see me in a few weeks, post baby. :)

it's all coming back to me now

I have started thinking alot about nursing lately since that is what I plan to do with Violet and I had such great success with Jack. I was remembering all of the disposable nursing pads I went through and lamenting on how annoying, wasteful and costly it was. I have read up on Lilypads and other re-usables and was wondering if any of you had any advice? I think the Lilypads sound great but for 20 bucks a pair they better be fantastic! (Yes, I am a super, duper cheap-o) Have any of you used them and what did you think? I am a serious leaker for like the first 6 months of nursing and my jugs get pretty huge so I need something that will cover and contain. I am not as concerned about things like the nursing pad showing through my clothes or how soft it is. I just want something that works and is tolerably comfortable. So give me the low down on what you did. Also, this may sound totally bananas but has anyone ever heard of making your own re-usables? Let me know what your advice would be, thanks!

We're Baaaaack...

I know it has been a long time but we are finally home and capable of posting let alone using the internet. We were in Texas for 9 days visiting my parents who just happen to live in the sticks in the middle of nowhere. At one point I even let Jack play outside completely naked for an extended period of time. Hey, if you are in redneck country you may as well embrace it right? Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the trip but my mom does. So I will have to post those at a later date. Speaking of my mom, isn't she awesome? I mean, I know most of you don't know her but let me just tell you she is amazing. Jack and I had such a great trip and our time was full of special memories we will always hold on to.

As I mentioned above, I don't have any pics of our trip, I do however have some other random pics. And since this blog has pretty much become a random smattering of my ranting and raving I figure I should change it up with some visual stimulation. Don't get too excited, still no pictures of big momma. Maybe tomorrow I will have Michael test out his camera skills when I am all dressed up in my church duds. We'll see. For now, here are alot of Jack instead.

Ahh the discovery of peanut butter. It was pretty much what he survived on at my parents house. No wonder Michael said he looked chubbier when we got back! :)

The cleaning of the peanut butter face. No fun.

The cleaning of the boogers, even less fun!

Loves to crawl in the dryer but freaks out because he can't get himself out. You think he would stop getting in there?

This is down by the "river" right next to our house. And yes, that is a purple, satin doll stroller. What can we do? He loves it!

Daddy was blowing bubbles and Jack was so fascinated. He ended up swallowing half the pool trying to do it himself.

Daddy and Jack have a constant game of "I'm gonna get you" going. It really never ends but it is so cute and the squeal he makes is even better. (Jack not Michael :)

His counting skills are getting so awesome. He can count to ten but when he jumps in the pool he says, "on, two, free, DO!" Which translated means "one, two, three GO!" It's awesome to watch him learn so much. I love his little voice.

So not to make this a total blog overload but here is a quick update. As you all know by my baby ticker thingy I only have 5 weeks to go. I am freaking out a little bit but keeping myself calm by sewing up a storm. Thanks to good friends and family I now have baskets full of clothes. I am really excited to meet this little ninja but am also very aware that the reality of it all will really bite. Basically I am not disillusioned whatsoever like I was with Jack. I am bracing for the storm of sleepless exhaustion etc. etc.

Jack is awesome. He is the absolute love of our lives and he is completely fascinating. His language really has expanded and it's so fun to have conversations with him about all sorts of things. His memory is stellar and his brand recognition is a little embarrassing. Seriously, the first thing he does when I hand him anything is memorize the label of the product. It's ridiculous.

Michael has totally been my rock lately. He is the voice of reason that this pregnancy has taken away from me. He has been working out at the gym like a mad man and is looking so buff that I am starting to get annoyed! It's not fair that I am all swollen and waddling and he is all tight and strutting. Eh. At least he still has it. And really, I am determined to get it back too.

I guess that's enough for now. Hopefully we'll talk again sooner rather than later.

fashionable crap sack

I am so stinkin' excited to announce my new diaper bag. It is beautiful and functional and I didn't pay a penny for it. I even finished sewing my own super cute changing pad to peek out the side ever so stylishly. It took me three days to transfer all of my stuff from my old nasty purse to this darling thing because I didn't feel cute enough to carry it. I had to make an effort with my hair and makeup the first day I used it just to keep up. Maybe I am over-reacting and it's really not that cute but I love it. I can't help but smile every time I look at it. Sigh.

First time for everything

Last night around 9 p.m. I started feeling not so good. After chillin' on the can for a while it became clear that I was in for a very long and painful night. I was glued to the toilet and hovered over a big white bowl for about an hour during each of six episodes. Finally around 4:30 a.m. the puking stopped and I was able to return to bed for a solid chunk of sleep. I am so grateful I have never puked during my pregnancies until now. I don't know how women live with constant "morning" sickness?! Not only did I get dehydrated to high heaven I started having contractions too. Luckily they have subsided and I am now able to walk around rather than shuffle and both eat and drink. The irony of the whole situation happened this morning around 9 a.m.. Church started (rendering me friendless for 3 hours in case of an emergency), Jack woke up and Michael's pager went off. That left me and Jack to fend for ourselves all afternoon while Michael went to the hospital pointlessly. (Don't even get me started on that situation) Let's just say Barney saved my life today. Sad and it makes me feel like a terrible mom but true. Here's to a better tomorrow and hopefully an even better Tuesday because we are supposed to fly to Texas to visit my parents. Keep your fingers crossed peeps.

I'm in love

I don't know exactly why or what it is but this crib bedding totally tickled my fancy. So much so that I have looked at it online for the last four days longingly. I guess it is important to have a crib before you buy fancy crib bedding right? Sigh.

Someday...or maybe not ever again, who knows?

Ok so obviously not a super model but man...what I wouldn't give. Am I the only Mom out there who does this? Sigh.
