The Christmas Post

Apparently I have become the boring blogger that I always hated. My last two posts have been heavily ignored which is ok just a dose of reality that I didn't want to accept. I guess I should stop caring that no one else really cares and just post the boring Christmas post that everyone else is debating on doing. What can it hurt? I mean, it is my blog and most days when it comes down to things like wearing my pajamas to the grocery store at 2 in the afternoon I don't care what other people think. So why start caring now? I must just be overly sensitive from this pregnancy. So for now, here is the predictable, boring Christmas post and maybe someday in the future I will have a great post full of hilarious stories, great ideas and exciting news. Don't hold your breath.

It all started last Monday when our good friends Samuel and Heather Bigler came down with their two girls to visit.

They're the kind of friends you make once in a lifetime and we love them. SOOO glad we got to see them!

Then I worked hard for the next two days crafting a few more decorations, wrapping gifts and baking a lot lot lot.

Quick baking list with recipes available upon request:
Toffee Chunk Cheesecake
All American Peanut Butter Pie
Homemade crescent rolls with like 3 steps and NO KNEADING!!! (I think I ended up making three separate batches on three separate occasions! Popular little morsels.)
Homemade Cornbread Stuffing
Gingerbread Men and Women (soft, delicious and not too time consuming)
Sugar Cookies
Perfect Pie Crust
German Pancakes with fruit and Whipped Cream
Hot, Creamy, Baked Spinach and Artichoke Dip

That is all I can remember for now. Let me know if you want any of the recipes.

In the face of all the madness we even made time for some fun and relaxing.

By Wednesday we had my parents, brothers Nate and Ghent and sister Anna with her two daughters Jadyn and Savanna. It was a full house...full of joy! I honestly can't remember a better Christmas. And to top it off, I finally got the one present that had eluded me all these years...THE EASY BAKE OVEN. (No photos of the un-wrapping because I cried so hard I had the ugly cry going on. Yeah. It was that exciting!)

It was a magical Christmas full of memories, delicious food and strengthened relationships. I feel so good moving into the new year that I don't even care how much weight I have gained! :) I am grateful most of all to my husband who was so loving and supportive. I could never have pulled it off without him.

On a lighter note. My son has realized that by repeating my name (Mama) several times, growing progressively louder that he will eventually get my attention. The best part is that half the time he has nothing to say and just grins at the fact that he finally got my attention! I swear this kid is the cutest little manipulative smarty pants in the world. I love him so much it hurts, my chest actually aches. Ah.

Weekend re-cap

We actually had a great weekend in Tucson! It has cooled way down which is kind of neat and refreshing and I really haven't minded the grey skies. On Saturday we celebrated our 5 year anniversary and Jack was with us the whole day to make sure we remembered the most important thing in our lives. :) Since we are a little low on cash and our anniversary is so close to Christmas we decided to forgo the big celebration and keep it pretty low key. Here is a rundown.

Wake up at 9:30 (yes my baby sleeps from 7:30 p.m to 9:30 a.m. are you jealous?!) and have cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

Daddy and Chunky head to the store for some last minute flowers and an anniversary gift while Mommy finishes stamping and addressing Christmas cards.

Chunky naps, Daddy runs and Mommy writes some emails.

Late lunch at Zinburger. Super salty fries, meaty and cheesy hamburger and a sprite. Delicious!

Head to the mall on one of the last Saturday's before Christmas and fight it out for a parking spot. Daddy gets a haircut, chunky gets some Redvines, Mommy gets a headache! Fun but not recommended. Who are these crazy people wanting mall gifts for Christmas anyway?!

Head to the new car wash and clean and vaccuum the car for only 1 dollar. You can't beat that with a stick!

Chunky goes to bed Mommy and Daddy remember the best days so far (many of which happened in Hawaii, Costa Rica or Folly Beach. Hmmm, I think we might be beach people or something?)

We really did have fun even though it was basically a mundane simple day. Michael not only bought me Calla lilies, my wedding flower, he showed up with some sunny Gerbera daisies which happen to be my favorite. And even though we said no gifts and all I did was make him a homemade sleep mask and write a card, he bought me a Magic Bullet. If you don't know what it is stay up till about 2 a.m. watching info-mercials and you will be as captivated as I was. Mostly because that guy has the tackiest fake accent ever, you know what I'm talking about!

So no pics at the moment but I wanted to update and write about our great anniversary. Can you believe five years? I know everyone says that but really...it's kind of a long time!

Warning

Ever since I decided to ask if people wanted Christmas cards I have been looking for cheap cards everywhere. I found them! The dollar store! When I say cheap, I mean CHEAP! So all of you who asked for one, beware, they are flimsy and...cheap. But give me a break I have like over 60 to send out! That's what happens when you combine a jolly blog post with extra large Mormon families! Just enjoy the cheapness and know that it doesn't mean I don't love you. :)

I've Gone Post-al

I know that I keep posting and I really don't mean to be a blog-aholic however I felt a strong need to post my Christmas tree. Not because it is glorious and grand but because it is sooooooo much better than last years. I feel so spirited this year now that I have all of my old childhood ornaments and all of Michael and I's homemade ornaments and all of my plastic Walmart balls! Pure joy this holiday season.

Before the glorious tree I want you to see how cute my husband actually is now that MOvember is finally over! Hallelujah! (and no he doesn't own a shirt :b)

Do you remember last years tree? Pretty redneck right? I felt so bad for Allen and Josie but it would have been silly to buy a tree and the whole production when we were going to be moving back to the mainland six months later.

Finally! Here she is! My comforting, tiny bit tacky, family memory filled Christmas tree. I couldn't be any happier.

Needy Plea For Opposite Of Garage Sale Blog Post

How else did you want me to explain it? No really, if any of you have anything, I mean anything for baby girls I would gladly pay the shipping for you to send it to me. I am willing to accept any and all donations and hope that this doesn't sound too needy. I just know that my marriage will most likely end in divorce if I spend the amount of money on this baby girl that I want to. Honestly I don't expect a ton because most people have family or close friends or whatever and if they don't have that they are keeping it for the possibility of the next girl. Yay for my pathetic and desperate call for freebies! :l

Holy Freaking Guacamole!!!!

I can't believe how poor we are about to become! All because of one little girl! What the heck?! A girl!
